The England international attacker was the star of the show at the Etihad Stadium, as City hammered the Cherries 5-1 at home in the Premier League.
Sterling, who joined the Citizens from Premier League rivals Liverpool in the summer transfer window, scored a hat-trick.
All of the 20-year-old’s goals came in the first half, as Manuel Pellegrini’s side once again proved that they are firm favourites to win the league title this season.
Former Liverpool midfielder McAteer is not getting carried away with Sterling’s display, though, and has pointed out that he did not play well against Newcastle United before the international break.
The youngster started that Premier League encounter at the Etihad Stadium, but he was taken off at half time.
Calm down everyone it was Bournemouth at home !! He was dragged against Newcastle........oh forgot that !— Jason MCATEER (@MCATEER4) October 17, 2015
City are at the top of the Premier League table at the moment with 21 points from nine matches, just two points clear of second-place Arsenal.
