James McClean was typically controversial and divisive on Saturday afternoon, as he celebrated West Brom's 1-0 win over Sunderland with an outburst that enraged the Black Cats faithful at the Hawthorns.
Indeed, the Birmingham Mail report details of the 26-year-old celebrating in a manner which Sunderland fans didn't take too well to.
In response, McClean took to Twitter with a simple message for West Brom fans.
But, the way it was written, anyone would interpret it as the cheeky tweet of someone who knows they have just riled their opponent.
Great win today, lads were excellent, fans were excellent have a great weekend baggies fans— James McClean (@JamesMcC14) October 17, 2015
The West Brom man is no stranger to controversy, of course, and many supporters may feel his celebrations were simply a sign of how much he wants to win.
It's obviously no coincidence that this was the 26-year-old up against fans of his former club, however.
Next up for West Brom is a trip to Norwich City, while Sunderland have the all-important Tyne-Wear derby against Newcastle United.
It will only be Sam Allardyce's second game in charge at Sunderland but that has proven a good omen for managers in the past against the Magpies.
