Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker has taken to social networking site Twitter to comment on Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling, following his hat-trick against Bournemouth.
The England international has often dominated the headlines throughout 2015, first for his ordeal at Liverpool, followed by his switch to Premier League title hopefuls City.
As controversial as it was, Sterling has adapted to life at his new club well and is already showing signs of great improvement from his days with the Reds.
Blessed with pace, trickery, excellent movement and intelligence, Sterling’s biggest weakness was his composure in the final third and lack of goals whilst a Liverpool player.
However, following his hat-trick against Bournemouth, the youngster now has four goals in eight league starts and is well on course to beat his personal best tally of nine strikes in a single campaign.
That fella @sterling7 who can't finish has scored a first half hat-trick.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) octubre 17, 2015
Lineker’s Tweet is in good spirit, mocking the general consensus that Sterling isn’t a good finisher.
While the 20-year-old still has plenty of work to do, he’s settled at the Etihad stadium remarkably well considering the enormous fee paid for his services and ensuing pressure to perform.
City’s comfortable 5-1 victory over Bournemouth sees them maintain top spot, two points clear of rivals Manchester United ahead of their eagerly-anticipated derby clash at Old Trafford next weekend.
