Fan's theory on why the likes of Newcastle's Tim Krul got injured

Tim Krul

There have been a lot of nasty ACL injuries in the past few months, could this be why?

In the past six weeks, there have been six Premier League players who have been unlucky enough to suffer an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

In fact, Liverpool lost two players in the space of just a few days, with Jurgen Klopp seeing Danny Ings and Joe Gomez ruled out for at least 6-9 months.

Then, Newcastle United lost Tim Krul, to join Bournemouth's Callum Wilson and Max Gradel on the ACL injury list which has swept through the Premier League.

So what on earth is the reason behind all of these injuries? Pitches? Bad fortune? Bad Juju? Well, one Reddit user (JoyLongDivision) has a very interesting theory, and it does make quite a lot of sense.

And it all has to do with the boots these players wear. Now, we're not saying there is any fact behind this, but it is an interesting point.

All of these players wear boots made by Nike. No, seriously, look at all of these players who wear Nike boots and have suffered ACL's.

Obviously, we could just suggest that more players wear Nike boots, but it is interesting to see there aren't that many adidas ACL sufferers.

*Disclaimer* We're not suggesting Nike boots cause injuries, but this is quite interesting.
