Celtic boss Ronny Deila hails Tyler Blackett and Dedryck Boyata after Motherwell win

The Norwegian was pleased with his centre-back pairing at Fir Park.

Celtic are back to where they will feel they belong at the top of the Scottish Premiership table. They edged out Motherwell today 1-0 with a goal from Nadir Ciftci proving the difference between the two sides at Fir Park.

Celtic have struggled throughout the domestic season so far but have recently picked things up whilst their nearest rivals Aberdeen have gone on a four game losing streak - including their 2-0 defeat to Ross County last night.

For Celtic the result was enough to see them go two points clear at the top of the table and it was also good to see them keep a clean sheet.

After the game, when talking to Celtic TV, the Celtic boss Ronny Deila had glowing praise for his two central defenders - both recruited from Manchester this summer:

"Tyler has improved a lot and played very well today."

"Dedryck is playing consistently well, too. We are starting to get a leader there and we need them on the pitch."

Deila had this to say about the performances of Tyler Blackett and Dedryck Boyata.

Blackett, on loan from Manchester United and Boyata, signed from Manchester City, have been tasked with replacing Virgil van Dijk and Jason Denayer at the back for Celtic.

Big boots to fill and so far they have been inconsistent in their attempts. But today was certainly one of their better days which had Celtic fans and their manager very pleased.
