Solly March gave the visitors the lead in the 14th minute with a low finish, but Chris Wood restored parity for the West Yorkshire outfit midway trough the first half with a glancing header from a free kick.
Substitute Bobby Zamora scored the winner in the 89th minute of the encounter, his first for Brighton for 4549 days.
Former Brighton player Virgo was following the game, and he was impressed with the way the Seagulls carved out a win at Elland Road.

The win against Leeds means that Brighton remain at the top of the Championship table with 25 points from 11 matches, four points clear of second-place Reading.
