York City striker Vadaine Oliver is a target for a number of clubs, including Wigan Athletic, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Oliver has caught the eye of sides higher up the football pyramid after enjoying an impressive start to the season at York City.
The 23-year-old joined York from Crewe Alexandra this summer, and he has scored three goals so far for the Minstermen.
Wigan are thought to have watched the powerful frontman on a couple of occasions in recent weeks, as they keep tabs on his progress, while several other League One and Championship sides are also monitoring Oliver.
Oliver came through the youth ranks at Sheffield Wednesday, but failed to break through into the first-team at Hillsborough.
He joined Lincoln City in 2012, scoring 11 goals for the club before being snapped by Crewe a year later.
However, Oliver struggled to hold down a regular spot in the Crewe side and spent most of last season on loan at Mansfield Town, where he scored seven goals in 30 games.
Oliver signed a two-year deal when he joined York in the summer and the club are bracing themselves for interest in the forward when the transfer window re-opens in January.
