Leeds United midfielder Alex Mowatt has not been in good form so far this season.
Mowatt, who is one of the best young midfielders in the Championship, played as a deep-lying playmaker under Neil Redfearn last season, but he has been deployed in a more advanced role by Rosler so far this campaign.
The German has suggested that the 20-year-old will continue to play in that role and told BBC Radio Leeds: “I see Alex’s best position as an eight, as an advanced midfielder who connects with the central forward, who is naturally closer to the goal.”
Mowatt has struggled in his new role so far this campaign, but it seems that to retain his place in Leeds’s starting lineup, he will have to adapt.
It is not easy for players to switch their style of play or their playing positions, but the Leeds youngster will have to do just that.
The Englishman has created only seven chances in 10 league appearances for the Whites so far this campaign, and has completed the full 90 minutes just once in the Championship this term.
