The young utility player has been training with the seniors.

Everton take on Manchester United this weekend in a game where they will go up against former forward Wayne Rooney. The England captain is fit again after injury and he is now in contention to face the club where he developed his talent.

Of course Everton have a great history and tradition of nurturing young players, with Ross Barkley perhaps the best example in their current crop.

So who could be next through the production line at the School of Science?

It might very well be this man...

Standing behind Barkley and Mason Holgate in this image is Everton youngster Callum Connolly.

Connolly is an 18-year-old talent who can play in both defensive midfield and full-back has been with the club since 2006 and was born in Liverpool. In the summer he signed his first professional contract with Everton - keeping him at Finch Farm until the end of the 2016-17 season.

An England youth international he is one of many promising talents coming through the ranks at Everton at this moment in time.

Here is hoping that Connolly can go on to become an Everton first-teamer in the years to come.
