The Northern Ireland international hero has recently been linked with the likes of Bolton Wanderers and Leeds United.
Lafferty, who has been a hero in Northern Ireland's recent successful qualification campaign for Euro 2016, has threatened to leave Norwich in January after still failing to play regularly for the club despite his good international form.
But Neill had short shrift from the striker, who became a internet sensation for his joking antics after Northern Ireland had confirmed their qualification.
Neill is quoted by The Mirror as stating:
“I will decide your future, not you.
“The bottom line is Kyle knows the situation he is in and it hasn’t come as a surprise to him.
“If, come January, I believe he is better suited elsewhere, then we will sit down and have that chat. But it all depends what happens between now and then. He might well find himself back in the team.
“I have to look at what is in the best interests of Norwich City and if that means keeping him here then that is what I will do.”
After his heroics on international duty for Northern Ireland the Norwich City striker Kyle Lafferty found himself linked with a move away from Carrow Road.
He was linked with both Bolton Wanderers and Leeds United in The Independent last month and both would certainly welcome him to their clubs.
Lafferty has even hinted that Leeds could be a genuine location, as reported by Ulster TV.
They reported quotes from Lafferty saying he would welcome the chance to play with Leeds United winger and Northern Ireland team-mate Stuart Dallas on a regular basis.
But whether Leeds and Bolton are keen may seem to be irrelevant, as Neil continues to play hardball with his charismatic striker.
