The Australia international says that the R's were the first to contact him after the 2014/15 campaign had finished, and that made him believe that Loftus Road was the right place to go.
"I had a good season last year and there was a lot of interest," he said. "The fact they responded straight after the season ended was a big sign I needed to come here; because they were so eager.
"It was just the fact that QPR contacted me so quickly. I know Tim [Sherwood, Aston Villa manager] quite well and of course Chris knows Tim too, so I'm sure there would have been some conversations."
Since moving to QPR, Luongo has immediately become a key part of their first-team, and he has played 10 times for Chris Ramsey's side to date.
So far his form has been good, but he needs to show a greater end product if he wants to make sure that he establishes a place in their starting line-up.
Luongo has been part of a QPR team that have made an inconsistent start to their Championship season, with their results slightly disappointing.
Many have tipped the R's to get promoted this season, but they are currently sat in 11th place and will need to improve considerably if they are to make it into the top six.
