Ferdinand has been keen to curtail expectations at Loftus Road during the season so far, but he has admitted that his side should be doing better than they currently are.
The R's are sat in 11th place in the Championship table, and Ferdinand says that the expectations have changed at the club, after they were able to keep hold of their key players.
"When I look at the squad we have, we're a match for anyone in this league," he said.
“When you look at our squad of players, yes of course the expectation has changed.
“With the ability we have in the team, we expect to be up there. Hopefully we will be, and we’ll be doing everything we possibly can to make sure we’re up there fighting come the end of the season.”
QPR were able to retain the services of Charlie Austin and Leroy Fer during the summer transfer window, and their squad is packed with quality as a result.
Chris Ramsey has not yet found a way to best utilise the talent he has at his disposal. though, with the R's painfully inconsistent.
Although the London club have shown their class going forward, they have the worst defensive record in the Championship, and that has stopped them climbing the standings.
Ramsey is under pressure to start piecing together a run of results now, and he will be eager to pick up a victory this weekend - when his side face Birmingham City.
