The former England international has headed to the Ricoh Arena until next month.
In a stunning coup Coventry have pulled off the signing of the former England international who has been on the sidelines at Villa Park in recent weeks.
It was a deal that even the Coventry City official Twitter account could not hide their excitement at.
Cole, who has 56 caps for the England national team, has played for West Ham, Chelsea, Liverpool, Lille and Villa in his career before making this shock move to the Ricoh Arena.
He will now be hoping to play some regular football with his new team. Cole has been on the fringes at Villa - playing just 278 minutes of Premier League football for the club since his move from West Ham in 2014 - not featuring at all this season.
At Coventry he will hope to strut his stuff and show just why Steven Gerrard once said Cole is better than Messi.
Coventry fans are rightly excited, ecstatic and outright loopy over the signing...
Joe Cole? Now that's a player I never thought I'd see playing for Coventry. Result #CCFC— Smith (@brsmith909) October 16, 2015
