Brighton & Hove Albion take on Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday.
Hughton says he knows Wood and Buckley well, and believes that both will be very good additions for Leeds.
The 56-year-old boss has now warned his Brighton team of their threat, and he is anticipating a tough game this weekend.
"Chris is someone I know from my time at Birmingham, I certainly know what he can do," Hughton said. "Will Buckley of course was at the club here, and again I know him well.
"They have got very good individuals and a lot of energy in the side. I remember last season here when they came to the Amex and I can remember us getting a good result on the day, but I also remember thinking they've got real good quality and energy in the team."
Wood and Buckley are both recent additions to Leeds' team, and Uwe Rosler will be hoping that they can make an impact in their first season at Elland Road.
Wood was brought in by the Whites over the summer, and he has already established his position as the club's main striker.
Buckley, meanwhile, was snapped up on loan from Sunderland last month, but his start has not been too impressive.
Buckley was well off the pace during his Leeds debut against Birmingham City, but the winger will be hoping to be back to his best against his former club this weekend.
