The highly-rated Ukrainian midfielder was linked with a number of clubs during the summer transfer window, with Everton in particular thought to have been keen on securing his signature - according to Sky Sports.
More recently, the Daily Mail reported that Jose Mourinho was at Spain’s game against Ukraine during the international break to cast his eye over Yarmolenko.
Newcastle United were also reportedly eyeing a move for him in January after turning down a summer switch, according to the Chronicle, while Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool had also been linked by the Daily Mail.
However, any move now seems to have been put on the back-burner, with the player signing a new five-year-contract in Kiev that will see him extend his stay to 2020 at least.
His contract was due to expire next summer, which is why a number of Europe’s top sides, as well as the numerous ones in the Premier League, were eyeing up a move.
Of course, the new deal could have simply been agreed to ensure that his current club can get a big fee for him in the future, as Luis Suarez did at Liverpool before securing a move to Barcelona.
