The Welshman is back after five months out with a hamstring injury.

Newcastle United have been handed a double defensive boost ahead of their fixture with Norwich City on Sunday.

The Toon, who are bottom of the Premier League table, will be pleased to hear that two of their left-back options are back in training.

Massadio Haidara has not played since September because of a knee injury but he is now back in training whilst longer term absentee Paul Dummett is also back in contention.

He told the official Newcastle United website today:

"I'm back in contention, along with a few others. Sadio (Haidara) is back in training too but I'm ready if selected."

Dummett has been suffering with a serious hamstring problem for five months - not playing for the club since the final game of last season.

The return of these two left-back options could not come at a better time for the Newcastle unirted boss Steve McClaren.

He has been using Kevin Mbabu in the position but the Swiss youngster has now suffered an injury himself which would have left Newcastle struggling to fill the void.

Hence why the return of the Welsh international and his French team-mate is so important to the Newcastle cause.
