Andy Hinchcliffe believes Leeds United have the potential to make a play-off push.
Andy Hinchcliffe has told Sky Sports FL72 podcast that he believes Leeds United could be promoted this season.
The Whites have made an inauspicious start to the new campaign, and they are currently languishing in the bottom half of the Championship table.
However, Hinchcliffe feels that they have more potential than they are showing and believes that they could challenge for the play-offs, if they are able to find some consistency.
"I think this season's Championship promotion race could be even more exciting than last season," he said. "I think that we are genuinely looking at half the league being able to get promoted. Even teams like Blackburn Rovers and Leeds United have the capabilities to get there, if they go on a decent run and show some consistency. It's wide-open.
"In the race for the play-offs, we are looking at 10 to 12 teams for four places."
Leeds are currently seven points off the play-offs and have won just two of their opening 10 matches in the league.
A victory over Derby County at the iPro Stadium did highlight the quality that they have in their squad, though, and if they can continue to put in performances of that standard then a very productive campaign could be possible.
The German insists that a top-ten finish is his aim for the current campaign, with all of his attention focused on going up next year.
