Schneiderlin, Depay and Smalling will be vital for Manchester United against Everton

Old Trafford

Everton and Manchester United go head-to-head this weekend.

Manchester United travel to Goodison Park this weekend to take on Everton in a match the Toffees will be quietly confident of winning.

United lost 3-0 to Arsenal last time out and they do not have the best record against Everton in recent times, so if Louis van Gaal’s side are triumphant their stars will have to be at their very best.

Here we take a look at three players who will be key if United are to leave Merseyside with all three points:

Chris Smalling

United’s defence started the season in fine style but more recently it has looked increasingly fragile, as proved to devastating effect by Arsenal earlier this month.

Everton striker Romelu Lukaku will be relishing this match and United centre-back Chris Smalling will have to be at his best to keep the formidable Belgian at bay.

Morgan Schneiderlin

With injury doubts regarding Bastian Schweinsteiger and Michael Carrick, French international Morgan Schneiderlin will surely start this match.

In truth he should have started against Arsenal and his additional pace could have helped win the midfield battle on that occasion, but van Gaal is unlikely to make the same mistake again.

Memphis Depay

Summer signing Memphis Depay has not been consistent since arriving at Old Trafford and while his Champions League performances have been good, the Dutchman needs to replicate that in the Premier League.

It is time Depay took his disappointment at seeing the Netherlands fail to qualify for Euro 2016 and started banging in the goals for United.
