Everton have three viable candidates to take the left-back spot in their team.
Everton manager Roberto Martinez has told the Liverpool Echo that the competition for places in his squad at left-back excites him.
It leaves Martinez with a tough choice over who to play in the position, but the Spaniard is pleased to have such a selection dilemma.
“The competition we are going to have in that left-back slot is really, really exciting," he said. “Leighton Baines has looked very impressive in the last two sessions.
“Bryan Oviedo, with the experience he has, and Brendan Galloway bringing the opposite extreme of that youth and bravery. We that's what we are looking for, to have that sort of quality in every position on the pitch.”
Baines is expected to be Everton's first-choice left-back when he returns from injury, given his excellent form over the past few years.
The experienced defender has established a reputation as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League, and knocking him out of the team will be difficult.
However, Galloway has given himself a chance of doing so, given that the youngster has been so impressive to date this term.
Oviedo, meanwhile, has had his injury problems of late, but when he has been on the field, the Costa Rican's performances have always been solid.
