Newcastle United are likely to be offered the services of Stephane Ruffier in the January transfer window, according to The Chronicle.
It has been reported by the British newspaper that the Saint-Etienne goalkeeper was offered to Newcastle in the summer.
However, the situation has now changed, with Newcastle reportedly looking for someone to replace Tim Krul, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.
Rob Elliot, Karl Darlow and Freddie Woodman are the three goalkeepers in Steve McClaren’s first-team squad at the moment.
The Chronicle claims that Ruffier, who has played three time for the France national team, will be available for a transfer fee of around £7 million.
Signing Ruffier would be a good move for Newcastle, as he has experience and is one of the better goalkeepers in Ligue 1.
