Pochettino’s side host Liverpool at White Hart Lane in Saturday’s early kick off, looking to return to winning ways after a 2-2 draw with Swansea City before the international break.
The attention has been firmly off of them, though, with everyone excited to see how Liverpool fare in Jurgen Klopp’s first game as manager, and Pochettino has urged his side to simply focus on delivering their game to secure a win which could see them move into the top four in the table.
“Liverpool are coming with a different manager and a different style. The mot important thing is how we take the game, we need to be focused on ourselves and try to deliver our game.”
Klopp was brought in to replace Brendan Rodgers last week, with their former manager having come under increased pressure following another slow start to the season that has disappointed many.
He did, however, enjoy success against Spurs over the course of his tenure, with Liverpool unbeaten against their weekend hosts in their last five games in the Premier League, a run stretching back to November 2012.
And the Spurs boss has urged his side to forget history and focus on their game, but concedes the Liverpool squad is likely to be fired up and keen to impress their new manager in his first game.
"When a new manager arrives, the players want to impress the new manager. They always give a little bit more,” he added.
“We need to have the focus on the game and start aggressive and not give special attention to how they want to play. I think that we need to play and forget the past; we need to believe in the way we play.”
