The young Liverpool defender is staying positive despite a major setback.
Gomez only arrived at Anfield in the summer from Championship side Charlton Athletic, and the 18-year-old took little time to settle, impressing from the outset with his maturity and ability on the ball.
Gomez started the season as Liverpool’s first-choice left-back and while he was on the bench for the last three matches of Brendan Rodgers’ tenure it looked like the teenager was set for a big campaign.
However, Gomez suffered the injury while on duty for England’s under-21s and he will now start the long road to recovery.
Following the news the Liverpool teenager sent a message on social media that read: “Tough time for me but already working towards coming back stronger. Hard work starts now...thank you for every message.”
Gomez looks destined to be a future Liverpool star and he should ultimately switch from full-back to centre-back, but new Reds manager Jurgen Klopp will have to wait before he gets the chance to see just what the talented teenager can do both on the training field and, more importantly, on the pitch.
