Reds defender Joe Gomez appears to be out for the rest of the season.
Gomez, 18, joined the Reds from Charlton Athletic over the summer, and was initially viewed as one for the future at Anfield, having displayed great potential during his time in the Championship.
However, the defender - who mostly played at centre back or right back during his time with Charlton - was handed a starting role at left back by previous Reds boss Brendan Rodgers.
Liverpool fans were excited to see the versatile teenager play under new manager Jurgen Klopp, but those hopes have been delayed after Gomez's injury.
Gomez suffered a suspected torn anterior cruciate ligament whilst playing for the England Under-21's against Kazakhstan on Tuesday, and will now be out for up to nine months as a result.
Fans have been reacting on Twitter ever since the news broke, with may supporters comparing Gomez's injury to that of current Reds full back Jon Flanagan, who has been a long-term absentee for the club.
Others were gutted that Gomez wouldn't be able to play under Klopp for some time, citing that they believed the German would help Gomez develop into a better player.
Here are some of the reactions from Liverpool fans after news of Gomez's season-ending injury broke...
Gomez out for the rest of the season! He was starting to look like a real good prospect, another Flanagan on our hands potentially #LFC— Greggs (@matthewgreggs) October 14, 2015
Gomez out for the season!? So unlucky. I reckon Klopp would've given him plenty of chances at CB. Just hope he's back much sooner. #LFC— Mo (@CoutinOhOhOh) October 14, 2015
I saw Gomez starting with Sahko at CB. Gutted for him. Hope he comes back stronger. Not great but ACL not the injury it used to be. #LFC— Graeme Kelly (@GraemeKelly1) October 14, 2015
