AS Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman wishes Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul a speedy recovery.

AS Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman has taken to social networking site Twitter to wish Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul a speedy recovery.

Newcastle star Krul has been ruled out of action for the rest of the season due to an injury he picked up on international duty with the Netherlands national team.

The 27-year-old suffered a knee injury during the Netherlands’ Euro 2016 qualifier against Kazakhstan in Astana last weekend.

Krul had to leave the Astana Arena on crutches, and he was subsequently ruled out for the remainder of the 2015-16 campaign.

Strootman, who himself has struggled with injuries since joining Roma from PSV in the summer of 2013, has wished his Netherlands international teammate a speedy recovery.

Krul has replied to Strootman on the social networking site, writing: “Thank you, my friend. I can use you as an example.”

Newcastle are at the foot of the Premier League table at the moment with just three points from eight matches. The Magpies will take on Norwich City at St. James’ Park in the league on Sunday.
