Marc Pelosi scored the opening goal as USA's under-23 side beat North American rivals Canada.
The central midfielder's goal led to a 2-0 victory, with the team continuing their preparations for the Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro next summer.
Pelosi was released by Liverpool in the summer without playing a first team game. His time at the club was marred by a serious leg break, and he is now continuing his career back in the States.
He signed with San Jose Earthquakes, where he has featured 11 times so far, but is yet to net, so getting on the scoresheet will be a boost for his confidence.
Pelosi received a senior call-up earlier this year although was not selected to play by boss Jurgen Klinsmann.
The German born midfielder is still only 21-years-old and is rebuilding his career with help from his Liverpool adventure behind him. His goal indicates he is on the right track and may even one day cause Premier League sides to regret not taking a gamble on him after his release.
