Tottenham Hotspur have some very happy Belgian players in their ranks right now.
Tottenham Hotspur have congratulated their Belgian contingent after Marc Wilmots’ side qualified for Euro 2016 as group winners and reached the top of the FIFA rankings in the process.
Belgium finished off their Group B qualifying campaign with a comfortable 3-1 victory against Israel and somewhat inexplicably they are now ahead of World Cup holders Germany and the likes of Brazil and Argentina in the rankings.
Still, it is a huge achievement for Belgium and Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen celebrated the feat on Twitter, with his club quickly responding.
“Well done to you and the three other Tottenham Red Devils,” the North London club’s Twitter account read on Wednesday morning.
Along with Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld, Mousa Dembele and Nacer Chadli will all now be targeting a seat on the plane when Belgium head off to Euro 2016 this summer, but for now they will be focusing on ensuring Tottenham have the best possible campaign.
Mauricio Pochettino certainly has the players at his disposal to challenge for silverware and a top-four finish this season, and with a place at the prestigious tournament up for grabs, many of their players could be about to up their game.
