Three former Sam Allardyce players he should consider bringing to Sunderland

Could Big Sam bring any former players to the Stadium of Light?

Sam Allardyce is the new manager at Sunderland and immediately he has found himself linked with old favourite Kevin Nolan.

But what other former players should Big Sam be targeting to help Sunderland's fight for survival?

Here are three potential options...

Morgan Amalfitano

Sunderland have been linked with a move for the Frenchman recently. He had a major fallout with Big Sam's replacement at Upton Park Slaven Bilic and was released earlier in the month. Along with other former Allardyce players linked with Sunderland such as Nolan, Carlton Cole and Ricardo Vaz Te he would be an experienced and quality operator to add some strength to the midfield.

James Collins

The central defensive position is one which needs improving at Sunderland. The Welsh international is an under-rated option and would be an upgrade on the currently misfiring Younes Kaboul and Sebastian Coates.

West Ham are likely to let him leave cheap, so Sunderland could bag a bargain.

Henri Lansbury

Some might forget that the Nottingham Forest midfielder played for West Ham under Allardyce in the Championship.

He was on loan from Arsenal and is perhaps best remembered for a stint in goal!

The midfielder remains at Forest but almost headed to Burnley in the summer. If Sunderland came calling, he might find it hard to remain at the City Ground.
