Florian Thauvin joined Newcastle United in the summer amid expectations, but so far this season he has struggled to make an impact.
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder moved to Newcastle from French club Marseille in the summer transfer window and was expected to be an upgrade on Remy Cabella.
The French youngster, though, has struggled to adapt to the Premier League and needs to step up his game.
Thauvin has created just three chances in five league appearances, and that is simply not good enough.
The former Bastia attacker has to start creating chances for his teammates and help in scoring, as that is his main job in the team.
Back in September following the arrival of Thauvin at St. James’ Park, former Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton spoke highly of him (click here to read more).
“I think it is a fantastic bit of business to get Cabella out and get Thauvin in,” the Burnley midfielder said on the Matchday Live with Fletch & Sav show on BT Sport 1. “He is the next best thing in French football.”
Barton played in France for a season and knows Thauvin's quality better than most, but the French youngster has to start producing soon to retain the faith of the Newcastle fans.
