Danny Wilson and Dave Jones have emerged as contenders for the Doncaster Rovers job, HITC Sport understands.
Former Barnsley and Sheffield United boss Wilson and ex-Southampton chief Jones have both met with the League One club over the course of the last week.
HITC Sport understands that they are now the leading candidates for the job, with the club expected to make a decision by the end of the week.
Rovers currently sit just one place above the relegation zone, having taken 11 points from as many games at the start of the 2015/16 campaign, which prompted the departure of Paul Dickov at the start of September.
Current caretaker boss Rob Jones is also very much in contention, whilst the likes of Lee Clark, Darren Ferguson and Shaun Derry are understood to have expressed an interest in the role.
Clark was last in the dugout at Blackpool, Ferguson at Peterborough United and Derry at Notts County.
