The Gers have not played against Celtic in the league for over three years now, with the Bhoys dominating the Scottish Premiership without much competition.
And Bitton admits that having Rangers to lock horns with next season would make Scottish football a more intriguing spectacle.
"I hope that they Rangers will be promoted for next season and that will make things much more interesting," he said.
"Obviously we’re missing the Old Firm derby and when it happens it will be great for all of Scottish football."
If the early part of the season is anything to go by then Bitton may get his wish, as Rangers have been in supreme form.
The Light Blues appointed Mark Warburton over the summer, and the former Brentford boss has made a positive impact at Ibrox.
Warburton has guided Rangers to maximum points from their opening nine games, and they have already established a nine-point lead at the top of the Scottish Championship table.
It leaves them in a commanding position already, and only an unexpected collapse would see them fail to earn promotion now.
