The defender is keen to win everything during his time with the Gunners, having tasted FA Cup success last season.
The defender has established himself in the Arsenal side since joining from Villarreal in January, impressing Gunners fans with an old school approach to the defensive aspects of the game.
He has already enjoyed trophy success with the north London outfit, as he was part of the side that secured a second successive FA Cup triumph at the end of the season, and he is keen to lift more silverware at the Emirates.
“I think I always wanted to achieve the most important goals in the world and in the biggest competitions,” he told arsenal.com.
“When I got here, I saw that Arsenal have the ability to do it. We have great players to win the biggest competitions. I’m sure that me, my team-mates and everyone that works here will make history.”
Given the squad that Arsenal now have at their disposal, there is no denying that they should be competing for major honours in the present and future.
The signings of Mesut Ozil, and then Alexis Sanchez before the start of last season, have certainly gave them an extra edge, with their ranks now boasting world-class players that can make the difference in big games.
Many, though, still see the Champions League as being beyond them, and their performances in the competition this season have added weight to that argument.
Perhaps, then, focusing on the Premier League, which is looking more attainable this season than it has done for some time, would be the best option for Wenger and his side.
