The AC Milan player has once again been linked with Tottenham Hotspur.
Whether that was the case or not, the 73-capped Japanese international remained at the San Siro but that has not stopped the rumours.
Now TMW has followed up on claims from the print edition of the Daily Star that following a disappointing start to the new campaign Honda will leave the club in January, with Tottenham one of the sides still keen on a deal.
The latest report claims Tottenham and Everton will both look to clarify the situation in the coming weeks before attempting to convince Milan to do business.
Honda is predominantly an attacking midfielder but he can also play on either flank and that, along with his experience, marks him out as a player Spurs may consider going for.
Add to that his considerable commercial appeal in his homeland and, while at 28 he does not fit the typical Daniel Levy transfer target blueprint, it is not a rumour to be dismissed out of hand.
Tottenham could do with more goal-threat and creativity even with the recent arrivals of Heung-Min Son and Clinton N’Jie, but it remains to be seen if Honda makes an oft-touted move.
