West Brom boss Tony Pulis gives injury update and slams late return of international trio

The West Bromwich Albion manager has been speaking ahead of their key match against Sunderland.

In an interview with the club’s official website West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis has explained that two of his key players are fitness doubts for the upcoming Premier League match against Sunderland.

Saturday’s match is huge for both sides with West Brom currently 17th in the table and Sunderland 19th, without a win all season.

If the Baggies win they will build an eight-point gap between them and Sunderland but if Sam Allardyce’s side can claim all three points in his first match in charge they will move to within two points of safety.

Speaking to wba.co.uk, Pulis said, “(Jonny) Evans and (James) Morrison are still being assessed at this stage. We will see how they are but both are doubts.”

Pulis also went on to explain that three of his players – Salomon Rondon, Cristian Gamboa and Stephane Sessegnon – will not return to England until late Thursday night or early Friday morning after their international excursions.

“It’s ridiculous really but there’s nothing we can do about it,” the West Brom boss said.

Still, West Brom have the players to get three points against Sunderland and ensure it is not a debut to celebrate for Allardyce after his recent appointment.
