Video: Watch Josh Maja's sublime assist for Sunderland Under 18's against Manchester United

The former Manchester City prospect is impressing for the Black Cats.

Sunderland youngster Josh Maja pulled off a spectacular assist during the Under-18’s 3-1 win over Manchester United on Saturday.

Elliot Dickman’s side registered their second successive win, after victory over West Brom last week, and put their illustrious rivals to the sword at the Academy of Light.

The Black Cats opened the scoring after just 58 seconds, with Joel Asoro’s surging run and cross converted by Dan Pybus at the second time of asking.

Dan Wright made it two in spectacular fashion with 16 minutes gone, picking the ball up on the edge of the box before calming curling into the top corner.

The game was put beyond doubt with the third goal on 25 minutes as Josh Maja’s sublime piece of skill put Pybus in on goal to coolly slot away his second of the afternoon.

A 90th minute consolation goal from United’s Jake Kenyon did little to spoil what was an excellent afternoon for Dickman’s young bunch.
