Serie A side Napoli have a reported interest in signing Mousa Dembele for Tottenham Hotspur.
Italian newspaper Tuttosport claims the central midfielder has already held talks with Napoli over a January move. The report adds that the club are interested in making an offer in the region of £10 million.
Dembele has struggled to make an impact under head coach Mauricio Pochettino, last season averaging under 45 minutes per Premier League appearance.
This is despite his versatility enabling him to play in defensive and attacking roles, but this campaign has not been any better for him, suffering the misfortune to get injured after playing in the opening games.
The midfielder will have one eye on a place in Belgium's Euro 2016 side, and a move away from Tottenham could be his best bet if he wants to win a starting place.
A departure would leave a void if Christian Eriksen were to get injured, with Dembele effective last season in the role, and Spurs would have to hope Alex Pritchard could step up after his ankle surgery.
Dembele is though one of the more experienced midfielders in Tottenham's young squad, and if they sold the 28-year-old they would have to look for a replacement, despite the talent coming through at the club.
Here is a look at how Tottenham fans reacted to the news of Dembele's possible departure...
#THFC if there's a grain of truth in the €14m for Moussa Dembele rumour I hope DL doesn't "Levy" the deal by trying for another tenner.— CD SpursRangers (@SumFatbloke) October 12, 2015
Dembele went from being bought as a striker for Fulham to being bought as a CM for us. Now he's playing RW. Sums it up really #THFC— Andrew Leong (@leongwengheng) October 12, 2015
Alleged Napoli have bid €14m for Moussa Dembele & he could move in January window. Always liked him but his games for us limited now. #COYS— Alf Love (@alf_love47) October 12, 2015
If Dembele has agreed a move to Napoli I will seriously question what Poch is up to with the depth of quality in the Spurs squad.— Spiggy (@SpiggyTope) October 12, 2015
