Report: Tottenham hoping for double injury boost ahead of Liverpool clash

Tottenham are hoping Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Mason will be fit for their game against Liverpool this weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur could receive a double injury boost ahead of their clash with Liverpool.

The London Evening Standard report that Spurs' medical team are hoping to assess the fitness of Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Mason for the crucial fixture.

All eyes will be on Liverpool as it is new boss Jurgen Klopp's first game in charge, but it is Tottenham who are the home side, who will be keen to play the role of party pooper and give the German a rough welcome to the Premier League.

With Eric Dier suspended, getting either of Bentaleb or Mason back to full fitness would be ideal timing, even if both are short on match sharpness.

Bentaleb has been out with an ankle injury, while Mason has been sidelined with a knee problem. Both players sat out international week for their countries as they focused on winning the battle to return to their club.

The chances are at least one will return, making Klopp's first game to impress his new fans that much more difficult, as Spurs bid to avoid defeat to remain above Liverpool in the table.
