Newcastle United fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to express their shock that Aleksandar Mitrovic was not sent off for Serbia on Sunday evening.
The 21-year-old striker started the Euro 2016 Group I qualifier between Serbia and Portugal in Belgrade and played for 85 minutes.
The home team lost the game 2-1 at the Partizan Stadium, thanks to goals from Nani and Joao Moutinho.
Serbia had two players sent off during the match. Manchester City defender Aleksandar Kolarov was dismissed for two bookable offences in the 80th minute, and just a minute later Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic was given his marching orders.
Mitrovic was booked just five minutes into the second half, but he did not see a second yellow - and this surprised some of the Newcastle fans.
The youngster has received two yellow cards and one red in just six Premier League appearances for the Magpies so far this season since joining them from Belgian giants Anderlecht in the summer transfer window.
The striker has built up a reputation of being hot-headed, and some of the Newcastle supporters are surprised - and relieved - that he was not sent off for Serbia against Portugal on Sunday evening.
Two red cards for Serbia and Mitrovic isn't one of them. Progress. He has been booked mind #NUFC— Dan O'Sullivan (@DanOsull27) October 11, 2015
