Report: Newcastle’s Tim Krul will miss the rest of the season

Tim Krul

Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul has reportedly been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul will miss the rest of the season due to an injury he picked up on international duty with the Netherlands national team, according to The Daily Mail.

The 27-year-old suffered a knee injury during the Netherlands’ Euro 2016 qualifier against Kazakhstan in Astana on Saturday evening.

Krul had to leave the Astana Arena on crutches, and it seems that he will not be able to play any more competitive matches this campaign.

“Following scans on his injured right knee, the goalkeeper is now poised to sit out the rest of the Premier League campaign as Newcastle's struggles continue,” states the report in The Daily Mail.

Big blow for Newcastle United

This is a big blow for Newcastle, as Krul is the Magpies’ undisputed number one goalkeeper.

According to The Daily Mail, second-choice custodian Karl Darlow is also on the sidelines with a foot injury at the moment and it is not clear when he will fully recover.

Newcastle are having a wretched campaign, and the injury to Krul will be a massive blow.

Although the Netherlands international did not have a great 2014-15 campaign and has looked shaky between the posts on occasions this season, he is one of the key members of the squad.
