Manchester United are interested in Everton youngster Brendan Galloway, according to The Mirror.
The British newspaper claims that United have been impressed with the defender’s form so far this season and could make a move for him in the January transfer window.
The 19-year-old has played well in place of Leighton Baines at left-back this campaign and can also feature as a centre-back.
“Van Gaal is without Luke Shaw for the season and could make a move for Galloway in the January transfer window,” states the report in The Mirror.
Brendan Galloway should stay at Everton
Galloway has proved himself as Premier League material and has shown loads of potential.
In seven league appearances so far this campaign, the 19-year-old has created one chance, has a pass accuracy of 79%, and has won two headers, three dribbles and 13 tackles.
It should not come as a surprise that United are interested in signing Galloway, but for the moment the English youngster should remain at Everton.
Once Luke Shaw recovers, he will slot back into Louis van Gaal’s starting lineup. The England international may not be fit until next season, but he has been earmarked for the left-back role for the Red Devils for the long term.
Galloway’s versatility to play in central defence could be useful, but even then he will not be guaranteed playing time at United next season.
