Nadir Ciftci will be Celtic's most important player after the international break

It's time for the 23-year-old to step up to the plate at Parkhead.

If there's one man who has the power to genuinely change Celtic's fortunes after the international break, it's Nadir Ciftci.

Right now, the Bhoys look a little limited going forward and that's mainly due to the fact they are relying solely on Leigh Griffiths.

Talk of signing a free-agent striker has also dominated the backpages in Glasgow yet no forward has been forthcoming.

So why can't Ciftci step up to the plate and take away the need to sign someone new? The forward was brought to Celtic for a reason this summer: to add options and score goals.

Thus far, it hasn't really happened for the 23-year-old at Parkhead. But, if Ciftci can up his game, he can become a very important part of Ronny Deila's first team.

Indeed, after netting during the 6-0 win over Dundee, Ciftci needs to kick on. A good run of form - and goals - will immediately give Deila more options both at home and in the Europa League.

It'll also put even more pressure on the Norwegian coach to consider going two up top when Celtic aren't scoring for fun.

The Scottish champions have several issues to address at present; their defending from set-pieces is the biggest. But no individual can be as important in the coming weeks as Ciftci if he brings his A game.
