The Premier League is now eight games old and some of the new signings made this summer have truly proven themselves to be great acquisitions.
Andre Ayew at Swansea City, Jordan Amavi at Aston Villa, Yohan Cabaye at Crystal Palace - there is certainly a case for many.
But what about those who have not quite made the grade early on, who is looking like an early contender for a first-season flop?
Let's leave those who have been unfortunate with injury out of it. Tyrone Mings, Max Gradel and Fabian Delph will soon come good for sure.
But who has failed to shine since their summer transfers?
Here are five potential options for the worst signing of the season so far...
Jordan Ayew - Aston Villa
Cost Villa a fair amount in the summer. The club were keen on the Lorient forward but he has struggled to have the same impact as that of his brother at Swansea.
He probably deserves a few more chances under Tim Sherwood before judgement can be completely passed, but for now, he has clearly struggled.
Roberto Firmino - Liverpool
He is injured now but prior to that he had struggled to find any real rhythm since his mega move from Hoffenheim. Been played out of position and looks lightweight.
A long way from making up his price-tag.
Florian Thauvin - Newcastle United
Once compared to Zinedine Zidane it seems that comparison is some way off the mark. He has struggled since his move from Marseille and has been a frustrating figure.
Younes Kaboul - Sunderland
Snapped up from Tottenham Hotspur this summer he has been woeful for the Black Cats this season.
A player on the downward he must be the main candidate for the worst signing of the season.
Xherdan Shaqiri - Stoke City
Mainly disappointing because of the expectations Stoke City had for him. The Potters fans wanted to see the best of the former Bayern Munich man but, at the moment, are having to wait.
