Why Sunderland fans can be confident of beating West Brom next weekend

Sam Allardyce arrives at Sunderland boasting a wonderful record.

As reported by the club’s official website, Sam Allardyce has been confirmed as Sunderland’s new manager after agreeing a two-year deal at the Stadium of Light.

The 60-year-old boss has a wonderful track record of keeping teams up in the Premier League, and more, a blueprint which has since been utilised and adapted by a number of other managers.

Sunderland’s current position is alarming, yet with 30 games of the season remaining there is plenty of time for them to pick up enough points starting with West Bromwich Albion next Saturday.

The Hawthorns has not been a happy hunting ground for the Black Cats in recent years - Allardyce’s new side are winless on their last six trips to the West Midlands.

However, the club’s supporters can be confident of picking up their first win of the season over the Baggies owing to a rather interesting record regarding their new manager.

As Tweeted by the renowned Opta Stats, Allardyce boasts a 100% winning record in charge of his previous four clubs’ opening Premier League encounter under his guidance, with Bolton, Newcastle, Blackburn, and West Ham the fortunate ones.

Ahead of the West Brom fixture, Allardyce will be keen to review tapes of their season’s performances so far and look to make immediate adjustments to strengthen in key areas.

Set-pieces and organisation will soon become familiar words at the Stadium of Light under his stewardship, while a change in shape and personnel may come to the fore.

Sunderland fans can expect a more direct approach from his side and while it may not be popular with a certain number, there is little doubting its success.
