Cabaye returned to the Premier League this past summer following a spell at Paris Saint-Germain, with his decision to opt for Palace raising eyebrows among observers and pundits alike.
However, his decision so far looks justified as the Eagles’ currently challenge at the top end of the table and his performances have been among the very best of his career.
Alan Pardew has clearly been a big influence on the Frenchman, yet his astonishing midfield displays prompt yet further belief that Pardew is among the very best English managers in the game.

As per the table provided by Opta Stats, Cabaye currently tops the London charts in terms of tackles made – more than natural defensive midfielders Nemanja Matic and Francis Coquelin.
The Arsenal man comes in second place, his 25 tackles produced this far three less than his French compatriot and six more than Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Eric Dier.
Coquelin’s inclusion in the Gunners’ starting XI since the turn of this year has seen the side greatly improved and balanced through the middle, illustrated by his partnership with Santi Cazorla.
The North Londoners may still yet wish to add another defensive-minded midfielder to bolster competition, but as far as first-teamers go, there aren’t many better than Coquelin at what he does.
