Sack race: McClaren clear frontrunner, Sherwood under pressure... Allardyce already fifth favourite

Tim Sherwood Press Conference 12/02/2014

Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Chelsea and West Brom bosses find themselves under pressure. But Sunderland's new manager is next in line...

After the double managerial change in the Premier League this week (Sam Allardyce going to Sunderland, Jurgen Klopp joining Liverpool), there is a clear favourite to leave his post next in the top flight, according to Sky Bet.

Indeed, Newcastle boss Steve McClaren is 6/4 to depart his role with the Magpies after a nightmare start to the season. And, should Newcastle continue on their current trajectory, it'll be hard to see McClaren not being dismissed.

Next up is Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho at 3/1 - but Aston Villa head coach Tim Sherwood is not far behind at 5/1.

Sherwood, too, has endured a horrible start to his Premier League season and Villa fans appear far from in love with their head coach right now.

Following the Villa boss is local rival Tony Pulis, who is in charge of West Brom - his odds of leaving the Baggies are 22/1, far further adrift.

Only just behind the West Brom boss, though, is Sam Allardyce - a surprise fifth favourite. Indeed, while Sunderland were looking for a new manager, Sky Bet priced their potential next coach at 16/1 to be the next to go!

Now that Big Sam has been announced, the Sunderland boss is priced at 25/1, which is still ahead of everyone else not mentioned above in the Premier League.

After Sunderland and Liverpool began the managerial merry-go-round, then, it seems one of Newcastle, Chelsea, Aston Villa or West Brom will be the ones to continue it. Or even the Black Cats again, perhaps...
