James McArthur explains his Scotland decision on Twitter

The Crystal Palace Eagle

Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur has pulled out of the Scotland squad.

Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur has revealed on social networking site Twitter why he had to withdraw from the Scotland squad.

The 28-year-old will not feature in Scotland’s Euro 2016 Group D qualifier against Gibraltar away from home at the Estadio Algarve in Faro/Loule on Sunday evening.

Scotland are fourth in Group D at the moment with 12 points from nine matches. Gordon Strachan’s side’s chances of progressing to the Euro 2016 finals are over.

McArthur has been in good form so far this season and has been one of the better players for Palace.

The former Wigan Athletic star has featured in eight Premier League games for the Eagles, creating 10 chances in the process.

The 28-year-old former Hamilton Academical man has a pass accuracy of 87%, and has won 10 headers, one dribble and 12 tackles.

Palace will take on West Ham United at Selhurst Park in the Premier League next Saturday.
