The former Leeds hero was pleased to see the Tottenham Hotspur man get his first international cap.
The January signing, who joined up with Spurs in the summer, came through the ranks at Milton Keynes Dons and has earned his craft in the Football League. A year ago he was taking on Yeovil Town at Huish Park, 12 months on he is the darling of Tottenham and England's most recent debutant.
One man who was highly impressed by Alli's emergence as an international player was former Leeds United defender Ian Harte. The Republic of Ireland defender, who recently announced his retirement from the game, also spent time in the lower leagues during an impressive stint with Carlisle United and he is clearly happy to see a player fight his way up from the Football League to an England cap.
Harte sent out this tweet last night:
Congratulations @dele_alli36 delighted for you. The first of many. Just goes to show hard work really pays off.— Ian Harte (@ianharte23) October 9, 2015
Alli's rise has been meteoric. He started making waves at MK Dons since the age of 16 and many have predicted this day would come.
However not many, including Harte, were likely to have believed that Alli would have made his international debut before he turned 20-years-old.
