The German coach has signed a three-year deal with the Reds, taking over the managerial hot-seat from Brendan Rodgers following the Northern Irishman’s sacking at the weekend.
The target for Klopp will be to get Liverpool back in the Champions League and fighting for trophies, while the German coach himself has set himself a target of winning the title within four years.
As popular as he is, a failure to at the very least complete for a top four spot over the next two years may cut his reign early and leave him with the prospect of rebuilding his reputation.
Writing on Twitter not long after his first press conference at Anfield, Bundesliga expert Fjortoft jokes that whatever happens, Celtic could be his next job as a result of a certain club tradition.
Funny fact! "You'll never walk alone" Before games at Mainz, Dortmund and Liverpool Klopp's 3 last clubs Celtic next?— Jan Aage Fjortoft (@JanAageFjortoft) octubre 9, 2015
The theme ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ is renowned among football supporters worldwide as lyrics proudly bellowed from the Anfield faithful and that of the famous Kop End.
However, the Merseysiders aren’t the only team to adopt those lyrics with Bundesliga duo Mainz and Borussia Dortmund and of course Scottish champions Celitc also playing it before games too.
As Klopp has managed two of them and now begins his reign at Liverpool, adding Celtic to his CV would complete the list and give him a truly unique record among those in the managerial union, but not for a good while yet.
