Former Newcastle United and West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce will become the new Sunderland manager, according to The Sun.
It has been reported by the British tabloid that Sunderland could make the announcement as early as tonight.
Allardyce is without a managerial job at the moment, having left Premier League outfit West Ham at the end of last season.
The 60-year-old will succeed Dick Advocaat, who helped Sunderland avoid relegation from the Premier League last season.
The Black Cats are second from bottom in the league table at the moment with just three points from eight matches.
Sunderland will take on West Bromwich Albion away from home at The Hawthorns in the Premier League after the international break.
