Queens Park Rangers fans have generally been left bemused by the club sanctioning a deal to allow Ben Gladwin to join Swindon Town on loan.
Gladwin left Swindon to join QPR in the summer transfer window, but it has not taken him long to return to the County Ground.
The attacking midfielder made an excellent impression with the R's over pre-season, but he has not played much since the start of the competitive campaign.
Chris Ramsey has consistently picked other options in the squad ahead of Gladwin, leaving the 23-year-old with just three appearances in all competitions so far.
As a result, QPR decided to allow him to leave on loan, and Swindon jumped at the chance to bring one of their star players from last season back.
Gladwin will go straight into the Swindon squad, and he could play against Peterborough United for the Robins on Saturday.
QPR director of football Les Ferdinand explained the decision to loan Gladwin out on the club's official website.
He said: “An injury has meant he’s subsequently struggled for game time, and we thought this was a great opportunity for him to get some games and come back fit and ready to go again.
“He’s only away for a month. And when he comes back, I’m sure he’ll be raring to go. He’s still got a massive future at QPR.”
However, Ferdinand's explanation didn't suffice for many QPR fans, who expressed their disappointment at the decision on social media site Twitter.
Ben Gladwin close to apparent loan move when imo was the difference in preseason. Hasn't been given a chance... We'll regret this.— Aitor (@LondonR) October 9, 2015
Gladwin going out on loan is smart. Get him game time, experience, and shows he is willing to play— John Burke (@JonnyBoyQPR) October 9, 2015
Ben Gladwin off on loan to Swindon, really don't understand that from #QPR been wanting to see him for the last couple of games, bizarre IMO— Tom Bermingham (@TQPRBermingham) October 9, 2015
If gladwin goes out on loan it proves we've learnt nothing about our transfer system!! #qpr— Scott loughran (@LoughranScott) October 9, 2015
Gladwin on loan? With the midfield we got its a shame Phillips hasn't quite been on it since window closed but makes sense for us #QPR— seAn (@Sean_FootyMad) October 9, 2015
I am a chilled bloke but sending Gladwin on loan is a bad move! He should fed into the team gradually and be a mainstay #QPR— Martin McKay (@Martin_QPRMckay) October 8, 2015
