Newcastle United youngster Ivan Toney has taken to social networking site Twitter to express his delight at winning the Barclays Premier League Under-21 Player of the Month award for September.
The 19-year-old forward has been rewarded for his encouraging performances for Newcastle’s Under-21 side last month.
The teenager scored twice in three appearances for Peter Beardsley’s team and put in some impressive displays.
Toney was on target against West Ham United and Swansea City, but the Magpies failed to win either of those games.
The summer signing from Northampton Town also made his Premier League debut for Newcastle last month, coming on as a substitute in the 2-2 draw with defending champions Chelsea at St. James’ Park.
The 19-year-old scored 11 league goals for Northampton before making the switch to Newcastle during the summer.
